This item is a pefect example of the fine work that was done years ago 1860-1885. The cameo, hand carved, shows a profile of a woman. A cameo is a layered shell in which a design is engraved on the top layer and the remainder is carved away to reveal the next layer, leaving the design in relief. It is very rare to find them in such good condition. A carved shell bust of a women measuring 15mm by 11mm, which are set into a 14kt yellow gold ornate frame 22mm by 18mm stud earrings weighing 8.4 grams. These cameos are very nicely done. The hair is very curly and all of the woman's features can be seen and have no chipping (very important).
